On 31 May 2009 the anniversary of Joseph Haydn´s death has been celebrated for the 200th time. The activities in HAYDN YEAR 2009 span from a diverse range of concerts to exhibitions to opera and theatre performances as well as children´s events.
In order for people to hear and experience the genius´s musical creations, the Haydn Festival has organised an extensive range of concerts at the original venues in Eisenstadt. These included recitals, chamber music, orchestral concerts, masses, oratorios and opera. The meaning of Haydn for the present is illuminated from various standpoints. Chronologically, a block of events with a specific focus was scattered at the original venues in Eisenstadt. The performers were the best Haydn interpreters in Austria and abroad.
